Run Your Own Farmstead Market Guide: How to Run a Full Market Day

Learn how to run the market in Run Your Own Farmstead: harvest crops, carry them to your displays, sell through the in-game day, and reinvest your profits.

Running the market in Run Your Own Farmstead is one repeatable loop: harvest ready crops on your farm, carry them to the market, fill your displays, and let customers buy while the in-game day runs. In one observed playthrough, once the stocked goods had sold through, the day ended and the player received a profit payout. Here is that loop from empty display to completed sale, plus where staff fit in.

A full market day, step by step

  1. Harvest your crops. Pick your fruits and vegetables once they are ready. If your plots are still getting started, the guide to growing crops covers planting through harvest.
  2. Carry the produce to the market. Pick up what you harvested and bring it over to the market area.
  3. Restock a display. Place the crops at a display you have already built to fill it. Restocking goes fairly quickly — one playthrough's restock was as simple as carrying 8 carrots over and setting them down at the display. For display placement and stocking details, see the guide to stocking displays.
  4. Let the day sell. Customers buy from your stocked displays as the in-game day plays out, and if you have a cashier on staff, they handle the payments.
  5. Collect the payout. In the observed session, once the stocked goods had sold through, the fourth in-game day ended and the player received a profit payout.
  6. Reinvest. Profits go back into the farmstead — more crops in the ground, more displays to fill, and staff to keep it all moving. The guide to making money covers the wider earning picture.

Where staff fit in

As your farmstead grows, you can hire workers for the business side of things: a cashier who handles payment, a stocker who refills displays, plus a farmhand for farming help and a janitor. In one playthrough, the tutorial led the player to a cashier early on, and reaching level 4 unlocked a worker who carries and puts down stock boxes — handy once hauling produce back and forth starts eating into your day.

Keeping sales coming

Sales come from what is on your displays, so keep fields planted and restock a display when it runs low, putting profits back into the farmstead as you expand. Active Run Your Own Farmstead codes are kept up to date on the codes page if you want a little extra along the way.
